And he told them this parable: “The ground of a certain rich man yielded an abundant harvest. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What shall I do? I have no place to store my crops.’ 18 “Then he said, ‘This is what I’ll do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger ones, and there I will store my surplus grain. 19 And I’ll say to myself, “You have plenty of grain laid up for many years. Take life easy; eat, drink and be merry.” ’ 20 “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Beloved, the only kind of “rich” that is worthy of emulation is one that is inclined towards honoring God. Everything else eventually proves to be vanity.
As the year has taken off, I have no doubt that God is poised to make you a steward of His blessings. For some of us, there is a limit to God’s physical blessings, otherwise it will corrupt our souls.
But if you can see stewardship in proper proportion to the things of God, there is no limit to His blessings, for you will have known that you are but a conduit – a pipe – through which God’s favor flows for His own glory.
May you be rich towards God this year.
