“Healing Bodies, Saving Souls”

Mission Overview

In rural Ghana, a patient can travel half a day to reach a doctor. Many never do. Hernias go unrepaired for years. Cervical cancer is found too late, or never. For two weeks in October 2026, surgical and primary care teams from the United States and Ghana will work side by side at Pentecost Hospital, Abesewa, providing free surgery, treating acute and chronic illness, screening for cancer, delivering maternal and pediatric care, and dispensing medications at no cost to the patient. Abesewa 2026 seeks to build on a pilot initiative that started in 2025, in Kpassa, Oti Region of Ghana. It is designed as the second year of a permanent annual model: training local clinicians, strengthening a Pentecost Hospital that serves the community every day of the year, and leaving behind enhanced capacity, new relationships, and transformed communities.

In October, a surgeon will scrub in at Abesewa and a man who has lived with a hernia for eleven years will walk out of that theater repaired. Someone will pay for the sutures, the anesthesia, the bed, and the antibiotics. We want to partner with you and together, serve as the hands of God to make this outcome a reality for someone in desperate need.
