Deaconess Elizabeth Paddy Named Finalist in Prestigious STEM for BRITAIN 2025 Competition

We are thrilled to announce that Deaconess Elizabeth Paddy, a dedicated member of Loughborough PIWC and a doctoral researcher at Loughborough University, has been selected as a finalist in the Engineering category of STEM for BRITAIN 2025. This esteemed national competition, organized by the Parliamentary and Scientific Committee, provides a platform for the UK’s brightest early-career researchers to showcase their groundbreaking work to members of both Houses of Parliament.

Chosen from a highly competitive pool of researchers across the UK, Elizabeth is one of just 30 engineering finalists invited to present her innovative research at the House of Commons on 11 March 2025. Her achievement reflects the goodness of the LORD and is a testament to our vision of Possessing the Nations.

Pioneering Research in Public Health

Elizabeth’s research addresses a significant public health concern: the spread of infectious pathogens through toilet plume bioaerosols in public toilets. Her pioneering study introduces an empirical model aimed at predicting and reducing pathogen exposure. This research holds the potential to revolutionize public toilet design, enhance hygiene infrastructure, and influence infection control policies worldwide.

Competing on a National Stage

At the House of Commons, Elizabeth will compete for the Gold, Silver, and Bronze awards in the Engineering category. A Gold award win could also qualify her for the prestigious Westminster Medal, recognizing the top researcher across all categories.

Reflecting on her achievement, Elizabeth shared:

“I am honoured to be selected as a finalist for STEM for BRITAIN. This is an incredible opportunity to showcase the impact of my research and engage with policymakers on critical public health issues related to infection control and antimicrobial resistance. I look forward to contributing to meaningful discussions at Parliament.”

Into The World We Go!

We are immensely proud of Elizabeth’s dedication and remarkable achievement. Her journey exemplifies our mission of influencing the world with excellence and purpose. Join us in praying for her success as she prepares to inspire change on this prestigious national platform.
