Natural Disasters In Recent Times

Sometimes I just wonder about the value of human lives in the face of natural disasters. I dread what could happen next, in my life and country, when I think about the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on February 6, 2023 in Turkey and Syria because more than 20,000 people died.

Ruined building, natural disaster.

Yes, 20,000 lives that matter! There was a time too old to ascertain with a date, but definitely it was more than 3000 years BC, when homo sapiens (human beings) were relatively fewer on the surface of the earth. There came a heavy downpour for forty days and forty nights, and a great flood that killed people and creatures on the earth but for a few who found themselves in a big ship made by an intelligent man in their days. This man was known to foretell the future. The man, Noah the Patriarch, knew about the coming flood because he had a sound spiritual relationship with God. This account can be found in the Sacred Holy Scriptures (the Holy Bible, Genesis Chapters 5 to 8) and recent happenings confirm how heavy nature’s blow can be to us.

It is very easy to be like Noah in our days, knowing the times and having a relationship with the Creator of all things, God! All you have to do is to acknowledge that He made you and you cannot have any sureties without Him.

Finally, to grow this spiritual connection, you have to acknowledge how wasteful your present life has been. The good news is that, it doesn’t matter how ugly life has been on your side. There is hope in God, through His Son, Jesus! Jesus, a man who lived over 2000 years ago mainly in the lands of Israel and Palestine, professing His oneness with God (His Father) and knowing more than Noah and doing things that are relevant even in our days….
