Possessing The Nations

Right from creation, God’s will has been to see the whole earth filled with His knowledge as the waters cover the sea. His desire was not to see just a section of the earth, or just some few nations, or one or two continents, no! But His ultimate desire is to see the whole earth including Africa, Asia, North America, South America, Antarctica, Australia, Europe and every length, breadth, depth and height of this Earth to be filled with His knowledge. To embark on this journey of filling every part of the Earth with His knowledge, we need a plan and an agenda just as every army has a plan on how to go for war.

“Possessing the Nations – Being agents of transformation!” which is the plan and vision of the Church of Pentecost which will be used to wage war to accomplish this feat. Encapsulated in this great vision is also PENSA International. This wing of the vision is also to see to it that the Pentecost Students And Associates popularly known as PENSA also covers every continent to accomplish God’s desire of filling every part of the earth with His knowledge.

  • We must possess the nations because that was Jesus last words.

And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, GO YE THEREFORE, and TEACH ALL NATIONS…  Matthew 28:18

One of the most feared words of every man are the last words of that man spoken before death.

The Last Words Of The Dying Pastor.

There once lived a pastor of a renowned church in Ghana who was originally chosen to serve as the chief of his hometown, had he not been converted into a Christian. When he died, the traditional council of the town met to agree on what should be done to his body. Apparently, when he was on his dying bed, the last words he spoke to his son before passing away were “give my body to Reverend when I die, give my body to Reverend when I die!!! He reiterated. As the meeting was giving on, his son joined them and revealed to the council the last words his father spoke before passing away. As soon as they heard it, fear fell on them and the body was released to his son to accomplish his father’s dying wish.

This shows us the power of the last words of every man. However, Jesus was not just any man but also God. As he was about to ascend, his last words were to Go and teach ALL NATIONS. That is why his last words must be our greatest command.

  • We must possess the nations because it is a commandment with a promise of God’s presence.

And, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world Amen    Matthew 28:20

The last words of Jesus to go all out and possess the nations was a command with a promise. This promise was the promise of God’s presence.

God’s Presence On A Young Lad’s Life.

And the Lord was with Joseph, and he was a prosperous man… And his master saw that the lord was with him, and that the lord made all that he did to prosper in his hand.  Genesis 39:2,3

God’s presence in every organization, endeavor and for that matter the church is the sure sign and way to wonder filled prosperity in the church. This is because Jesus has promised us his presence when we go out to possess the nations and everything we do will also prosper.

  • We must possess the nations because it is a conduit for miracles and manifestations of the Holy Spirit.

And these signs shall follow them that believe: In my name shall they cast out devils, they shall speak with new tongues; they shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick and they shall recover.  Mark 16:18

Attached to the last words of our ascending savior was the promise of miracles, manifestations, signs and wonders which will be evident in our quest to possess the nations of this world for His glory.

While Peter yet spake these words, the Holy Ghost fell on all them which heard the word. Acts 10:44

  • We must possess the nations because that was our Saviors mission.

He said to them, “let us go somewhere else to the towns nearby, so that I may preach there also, FOR THAT IS WHAT I CAME FOR”   Mark 1:38

It is amazing to realize how the core aim and mission of our savior was to possess the nations. Since we are following Jesus, then it is prudent to have his mission as our mission because he has called us and we did not call him.

I have given you an example that you should do, just as I have done.  John 13:15

  • We must possess the nations because it is the sure path to have all our needs met.

But seek ye first, the kingdom of God and ALL OTHER THINGS SHALL BE ADDED UNTO YOU.  Matthew 6:33

This goal of possessing is not one originating from human means but it is a kingdom goal influenced by the Holy Spirit in the hearts of men. As we make it an aim to possess the nations for God, His divine provision becomes our great heritage.

Three Steps To Take To Be Successful In Possessing The Nations.

…let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me…   Matt 16:24

Every final destination in a journey is filled many paths, steps and routes one must take to get there. Likewise, to possess the nations, there are three major steps we need to take to accomplish this great feat.

  • Denial

… LET HIM DENY HIMSELF…    Matt 16:24.

The first step to take to possess the nations of this world for God is to deny ourselves. To deny ourselves means we must say no to certain things so that we can withhold certain pleasures or satisfaction for a better gain. As soldiers of the cross, there are many things we must deny ourselves of so that we can accomplish our savior’s desire.

Three Things To Deny Ourselves Of.

  • Our selfish visions and dreams.

We must throw away our personal, selfish visions and dreams in exchange for God’s dreams and visions concerning our lives. Many times, a lot of people are completing stacked to their selfish ambitions and dreams to the extent that they forget to seek God’s will for their lives.

For I know the plans that I have for you, says the Lord, plans of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and an expected end.   Jeremiah 29:11

Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. –  Ephesians 5:17

  1. Comfort.

And everyone that hath forsaken Houses… for any name’s sake…   Matthew 19:29

Our comfort should be laid down at the alter if we want to possess nations. Houses in the verse above indicates comfort. Most of the things which make life easy for us can be found in our houses. Beds, sofas, couches, fridges, televisions, air-conditioners, and such other things really make life comfortable and they can be found in our houses. That is what Jesus meant when He said for to us to follow Him, then we must also forsake ours houses which depict comfort.

… Foxes have holes, and birds of the air have nest; but the son of man, has nowhere to lay his head.    Luke 9:58

  1. Laziness and sleepiness

But by the grace of God I am what I am and his grace which was bestowed upon me was not in vain BUT I LABOURED MORE ABUNDANTLY THAN THEY ALL yet not I, but the grace of God which was with me.        1 Corinthians 15:10

The task of possessing nations is not a sleep, eat and drink affair. It entails hard work and more work because the reward for hard work is more work. The scripture above is one of the ministry secrets of Apostle Paul. This man labored more abundantly than all those around him. The school of possessing nations is a school of hard work.

… That ye be not SLOTHFUL…    Hebrews 6:12

  • Taking up your cross.

The second step of faith to take as a soldier of the Lord’s cross, ready to possess the nations is to take up your cross.

… If any man will come after me, let him take up his cross…     Matthew 16:24

The cross is the symbol of the sacrifices we have to make in order to possess the nations. Know that it is not Jesus’ cross you are to carry but your own cross. The amazing thing about it is that, imagine the worldwide effect of Jesus’ sacrifice as he carried his cross, this means that if we also carry our cross then possessing the nations will be a reality and not just a lip-saying.

  • Following

Then said Jesus unto his disciples… FOLLOW ME.  Matthew 16:24

The final step to take to become successful in possessing the nations is to become followers of those who have once taken that road of faith.

The thing that hath been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done; and THERE IS NO NEW THING UNDER THE SUN.   Ecclesiastes 1:9

There are great men and women of faith who have once taken and achieved this step of possessing the nations. To follow them and their example is to catch up with their works in order to surge forward. To follow them is also to learn from their mistakes in order not to commit the same thing. Just as Jesus transformed mere fishermen into world changers through the art of following, then we will also make exploits if we employ our Savior’s technique.

That ye be not slothful, but FOLLOWERS of them who through faith and patience inherit the promises.     Hebrews 6:12
